Maison Blue produces varieties of wine grapes including Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon Blanc, Mataro and Chardonnay from our beautiful vineyards situated in heart of McLaren Vale which is one the Australia’s most precious wine growing regions, home to around 65 wineries producing quality wine grape varietals such as Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. We also collect grapes from our contractors in other famous South Australian wine regions such as Barossa Valley and Coonawarra for more wine grape varieties.
Mike is a renowned winemaker who has 40 years working experience in the industry with extensive knowledge of South Australia’s finest wine regions. Former maker of Penfolds Grange, St Henri and Bin 707.
During his career in winemaking and long attachments with iconic brands such as Penfolds, Seaview, Wynn’s Coonawarra estate, Lindemans and many more, Mike was twice awarded the Jimmy Watson Trophy.
Mike joined the team in 2013 and Mike has been Maison Blue’s chief winemaker ever since and he has been our most reliable ally over the last decade.
Jason completed his study in winemaking at The University of Adelaide and later joined the Penfolds winemaking team at Magill Estate, working closely with Chief Winemaker Peter Gago to craft many of Penfolds premium wines including Bin707 and Grange over the last twelve years as Penfolds Magill Estate Winemaker.
Jason has rich experience in making all forms of wine style, from, Red, White, Sparkling and Rosé through to Fortifieds and Ice-wine. For Jason, winemaking doesn’t simply finish when the wine is tucked away in barrel for maturation. He believes that barrel maturation times should not be set in stone for particular wines. “Each vintage is different and capturing fruit intensity, varietal expression and finesse in wines is critical”.
After Andrew complete his degree in Oenology at University of Adelaide in 2000, he then became a winemaker and has worked at some of the best South Australia’s Wine Regions including Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek. In 2006, Andrew became the chief winemaker at McLaren Vintners -McLaren Vale.
During his career in winemaking, he took chances to gather experience from vintage wineries such as Geyser Peak Winesm (Sonoma County, California) and across Europe (Pierre Gaillard, Cote Rotie, France; Bodegas El Nido, Jumilla, Spain). Andrew enjoys working from the vineyard to the bottle to make the best wine and showcase the varietal, the region and the individual vineyard characteristics. His aim is to guide each batch through maturation to ensure the best fruit expression and balance and allow the potential of each parcel of fruit to be realized.
